Longines 60's Dress Watch

This Longines dresswatch was a typical product of the 60's. Simple hour reading and the watch had someting extra's. A sweep seconds hand. Many watches at that time showed only the minutes and hours. Later on, the sub second register at 6 o'clock was introduced. The sweep seconds hand followed.

Grand Prix at World Fairs

In 1867 Longines won it's first grand prize on the World Fair of Paris. By 1910 they alreay had won five of these prizes. My Longines pocket watch states 7 grands prix and originates from 1920. In a 1950's campaign of Longines Wittnauer, their US distributor, they claim to be 'The World's Most Honored Watch' as winner of 10 World's Fair Grand Prizes and of 28 Gold Medals.   


Calibre 18.69N

Calibre 18.69N. The N stands for New. Longines produced the 18.69 movement,  robust and of a high quality, from 1895 on. In 1908 they started with the production of the 18.69N Calibre.
