Yema Yachtingraf

One of the iconic three Yema sports watches of the sixties was the Yachtingraf. A watch especcially designed to time the start of regatta boat races

The main characteristic of the Yachtingraf is of course the 'Big Eye' register in white, red and blue. As there are two type of regatta boat races (15 minutes countdown and 10 minutes countdown) Yema succeeded in combining the two in just one register and one minute hand.  Today the Yachtingraf is one of the most sought after vintage Yema sports watches by collectors.

Registered patent

In 1967 Yema registered their unique regatta timer patent in Switzerland and in the United States. The patent was filed for a watch for Yachting and underwater use. The count down diver bezel was an important part of the watch.

Yema Yachtingraf series

1966 - 1970

In 1966 and 1967 one can distinguish 3 different Yachtingraf versions. The difference between these models is mainly found in the movement used. it all started with the Valjoux 92 movement, followed by the Valjoux 7733 and the Valjoux 7734 (date).

1969 - 1970

in 1969 Yema introduced the Yachtingraf Croissiere by adding a third register at the 6 o'clock position. This red crossed register was a 24 hour indicator thatenabled you if it was AM or PM.

In 1970 the Yachtingraf Régate was introduced. The start timer register of the watch became a rotating disc for a 15 minutes countdown. Instead of the red cross at the 6'oclock position a sail boat was shown. First in white and later in blue.

As this Eisenhardt Regate watch shows, you can find the Yema Yachtingraf with different brand namens on the dial. Most of them are export Yema's.

Yachtingraf Quartz series

It took seversl years but the Yachtingraf was revived with a Quartz movement.
